Juneteenth was celebrated nationally for the second time last week, recognizing the end to slavery of most persons within the United States after the Civil War. But anyone who has watched 13th knows that forced labor continues under the guise of mass incarceration for which we have the highest rate of any country in the world.

Nearly 1 in 3 American adults have a criminal record and that can reduce their chances to get a job, secure housing, or vote.
